In your Absence

When you go on holiday or leave your home unattended, there are certain precautions you can take to ensure that it is less obvious that you are absent and make it less likely that others will attempt to take advantage of the fact.

• Ensure all doors and windows are closed and locked - keep in mind that one third of all burglaries are carried out without the need for a break-in.
• Cancel all newspaper, milk and other deliveries.
• Use timer switches on house lights to give the impression of occupancy.
• Arrange for a friend or neighbour to keep an eye on the house. This includes removing all letters and circulars from the letterbox or doormat if this is visible.
• Employ a reputable House Sitting Agency to look after your property during your absence.
